I'm trying to plan a trip out west again. I have been to Ft. Pier South Dakota in the National grasslands shooting prairiedogs once before, 2 yrs. ago. We stayed at the Fort Pier Motel, it was cheap, clean, and even had some nice benches that worked great for cleanin the rifles. I have a Toyota minivan, that I can drive, good gas mileage. I am thinking about the beginning of July, after the 4th, of course. The season in the grasslands opens in mid June. I have a GPS, and a shade 1st up thing, I just got a Caldwell stable table, and everything. I did come across a prairie rattler last time, so I picked up a set of snake-boots, just in case. Lemme know if anyone is interested. The van has plenty of room for 4 people, and our gear. I even have a luggage rack, box thing too. If need be, we could even take my little 4x7 trailer. The trip last time costed me and my friend about $350 total cost, for gas, lodging, food and everything, for 4 1/2 days. We stayed in the motel for 3 paying days. I have noone that can go this year, so far. Thank You. It's gonna b a GREAT time!

I don't think the dogs are out in October. BUT a nice Mulet trophy would be sweet in my hunting lodge/livingroom!

OK Sheldon, we will be takin a family vacation in June out to SD, and everyone except me wants to go to the Badlands, and stuff, and see Mt. Rushmoore,. But I wanna get dropped off in the National grasslands for the day and shoot some dogs. Are you close to Fort Pier?
