So, we got to SD for the family vacation. We went and seen Mt. Rushmore, and the Badlands, and all the other family stuff. I stopped at one ranch, and asked about doggin. The guy was very friendly, and was more than happy to let us hunt. The last time I went out there, was late in the season, and the dogs were really shot up on the National Grasslands. This time they were everywhere! Non stop shooting. I was amazed at the number of them. The great part was that only about 10 were killed beyond 300 yards. The rest were under. Me and my son, (with the family in the van) sat there for 6 hours. I killed over 100 dogs. The .204 40 grain Hornady V-Max were the coolest ever! About 40% of the hits would send the little things soaring in the air, flipping around in the air. It was GREAT! I had used a .223 55 grain V-Max on my last shoot, and only one came off the ground. The .204 was sooo much fun, that even if they were under 100 yards, I used it. I had a .17 HMR that was supposed to be used for under 200. But it just wasn't as fun. I will be buying another .204 for next time. Then I won't have to wait so long for only one gun to cool down. I gotta say, I have watched some varmint videos before with prairie dogs, and this was like that, or better. This was the most fun BY FAR, I have ever had shooting. Highly recommend
