targets targets targets

another post made me think of these, i figured i'd share.....last winter me and my ol' man got bored and started making targets. we ended up with a bunch of others, but these are just a few..... we set them up in our yard so we could plink after we got home from work....along with more bowling pins and clay pigeons hanging off tree branches...

some side notes on them, all of them fold or can easily be taken apart so they are FLAT. the spinner stand (along with others not pictured) all have interchangable targets to include high power targets, other shapes, and hooks and clothespins. Those additional targets and holders can also be securly stored along the legs without interfereing with stand function. we made a longer one that can be set up verticly with stopper to be used as a shooting tree off a similar style. The tripod we are still refining, those legs can take a .22, but anything else put a hold in it, and after a few holes it gets pretty fragile. We didnt have very good luck with auto reset types, but one had a pull rope reset that worked just fine.

**They will be available for sale next summer once i get back to the shop**

Obviously, it's not done yet. But I got to looking at tripod stands, and tree stands, and they cost too much, for the platform style, with the shooting rail on them. So, I had 9 7ft. pieces of 3/4" tubing that my buddy had gave me, and this is what it looks like so far. It's a 36"x36" platform, with a 36" shooting rail. I spent about 4 hours on it today in my garage. I am using some 3/16ths inch plate, in the corners where the braces are, and gonna mig it from the bottom side, so I can put some sort of legs on it. I am trying to make this similar to a guard post type thing with a slanted roof also. But I am runnin outta metal. I am still undecided about what I am gonna do for legs so far! Soo, whatta ya think? This is all of the extruded metal I can find rite now, so at least it's in the front, so I won't lose my footing! I might end up using plywood on the rest of it.

I bottled 52 fifths of my apple wine today. I started it last September with apples from Joe & Amber's trees. It was stubborn and didn't want to get clear so I put a fining agent in it and let it set for 2 weeks. This agent catches all the sediment and settles it on the bottom of the carboy, I then siphon it to just above the sediment and throw out the left over. picture below.

While at the Timberghost's for 5 days Joe & I got some of his projects done and Amber had a honey do list for me. The carved beaver statue wingshooter had made for her was getting bleached out so Amber called the guy who carved it and asked what to put on it for a finish. He said burnish the wood with a propane torch and then put 2 coats of Minwax polyurethane over it. I did that and here is the results. I also sanded and refinished their lawn furniture and assembled it. The beaver and furniture were bare wood and getting to really look bleached out. 1st picture is with one coat 2nd is with 2 coats of minwax.

The last week I was in Arizona I rebuilt this cows head for my sister's. They bought it at a flea market and the horns were loose and there was a big hole in the skull between the eyes and toward the nose. I said get it if the price is right because I can rebuild it. I took window screen and body putty to rebuild it. I then sanded it and painted it. I just wish I would have thought to take a picture before I started on it. They were happy the way it turned out. Rosie already has 3 projects lined up for me for next winter.
